Family legacy booms in Avon for decades

Ada Mensch opened a small flower shop in Avon in 1957. Her family continues to operate both a retail and wholesale location 65 years later.

Carol and Vern Tolsma, Ada’s granddaughter and her husband, run the Mensch Greenhouse and Flower Shop. The couple creates distinctive floral arrangements and delivers them throughout the area, including into Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota.

Meanwhile, Lyle Mensch, and his son, Korey – Ada’s son and grandson – handle the wholesale business. They supply over 100 independent retailers, some hundreds of miles away, with high-quality plants.

“Golden West services have allowed us to successfully run our business,” Carol says. “We couldn’t get by without it.”
